EV3 Mindstorms ( Year 3 - Form 3)
Encourage and enhance your children's curiosity about science, maths and technology by registering them in our ROBOTICS PROGRAM.
They will learn, share and have fun.
Q: Why should I enrol my child for the Robotics Program?
A: If your child’s future includes programming, robotics and engineering, being in the Robotics Club can provide a solid foundation in object – orientated programming, mechanical engineering, teamwork and well developed critical thinking skills. Plus, your child will have the added advantage of a robotics background which will stand him/her in good stead for the working world in the future.
Robotics Club endeavours to motivate students into participating in robotics competitions and provided them with a solid foundation in the concepts of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
Q: What are the benefits of the Robotics program?
A: We teach students critical thinking. Our coaching fosters:
1) Clear thinking.
2) The confidence to make decisions.
3) The ability to work with others as a team.
4) The confidence to keep going despite setbacks.
5) The ability for a student to see beyond themselves.
We coach students how to find the best answer as fast as they can and build their resilience at tackling solution based learning.
Q: Are Robotics only for boys?
A: We encourage anyone (boys or girls) with an interest in computers, robots and cool technology to enrol. There is a growing number of girls in our programs and workshops.
Q: Do we need to purchase any sets?
A: No. All sets are provided for the students by Robotics Club and they are used as tools in our STEM programs. However, students are expected to exercise care and responsibility when handling all equipment and return them at the end of each session.
Q: Do your clubs only focus on building with Lego and other elements?
A: No, we are not a club with a focus on building robots alone. We do build, however, programming, testing, theory and understanding are some of the essential components of a complete STEM education.
Q: Do we get to keep the robots?
A: Unfortunately, your children cannot take the robots out of the learning centre as they are the property of Robotics Club and will have to be returned at the end of each club or holiday session.
Q: At what age can my child join your program?
A: We have short workshops for younger students from Primary and Secondary school (Mindstorms EV3) program. Anyone from primary – secondary who loves Robotics and has a love for learning new things is welcome to join our programs.
Q: Does my child need to know something about Robotics beforehand?
A: No, your child will receive the appropriate coaching during the sessions and will catch up once he or she attends the program regularly. What we do want, however, is students who are interested in robotics and display a positive attitude towards life long learning and technology.
Q: How does a class work with a robot?
A: Our Club has ample robots for the students to carry our their missions. However, the club places a huge emphasis on team work and the sharing of ideas. The students at our Clubs work in teams of 2 to 4 (or more if they are preparing for a competition).
Q: How long is each club session?
A: Each session is 2 hours long for Mindstorms EV3 Club.
